Another night at RALLY HQ–another 50 things we need to do… We got the steering rack back in but are awaiting the parts shipments to finish out a few things under the car…. GVB made short work of the exhaust repair. We also thought we should clean the air filter out a bit…

Lot’s of work on the car in between High Desert Trails and Plan B… The mystery leak in the steering rack should be fixed with the new rack GVB muscled in this weekend… some other things on the fix list:

We are hoping to get the Vdub shook down and tight at Plan B for the Oregon Trails Rally the weekend after… We would love to have some friendly faces up there in Oregon as we play with the big boys… Please let us know if you can join us! Even better if you can turn a wrench!

So it’s Sunday, the world seems to be moving at about 3 mph… I can’t seem to get the lawn mower to turn like GVB gets the VW to…

So Plan B is next up on the list… a few things we should be excited for:

1: We can only get better
2: Further shakedown of the car is really going to help us iron out the few kinks left
3: We have some experience on these roads from Desert Storm
4: TIRES – We’ve done this well with 7 YEAR OLD TIRES (as Doug Nagy put it “those are the worst tires I have ever seen on a rally car”) GVB has some new tires coming–I can’t wait to see firsthand what GVB can do with Lil Red with some stick on these stages!

…and due to quality AT&T cellular coverage, we weren’t able to post an update after Stage 5, which gave us our best time: 7:59! Out of 20 cars, that was the 4th quickest. AND, we also ended up with a 4th overall finish! Most importantly though, it was FUN!

Unofficial results: 1st place group 2…. Fastest front wheel drive… Boom!!!!!

8:42 on stage 3, with good reason… Stage has gone to shit… Tons of loose sand, grapefruit rocks… Were still leading our group though…
Service time. Were back on at 3:19….

Stage 2 we shaved 12 secs off our first time… We rally same stage three times in a row…
